Just six miles south of Washington resting on the west banks of the Potomac River, the city of Alexandria serves as a key central business district while preserving a sense of community and history. The oldest part of the city, Old Town, is also the most popular destination in Alexandria as it is the setting for many fine restaurants, art galleries, and shops along the King Street corridor. In addition to Amtrak, three Metro stations served by the Blue and Yellow Lines unite Alexandria with surrounding Northern Virginia, Reagan National Airport, and downtown D.C. Numerous parks, trails, and attractions can be found throughout Alexandria, as well as George Washington's famous estate at Mount Vernon, sited just outside of the city limits. Known for its historic roots, the constantly budding city of Alexandria continues to provide a fitting combination of residences and commercial centers, making this area a lovely place to call home.
